Do French speakers use « guillemets d'air »? What does the hand motion look like?

Update: Wikipedia has an article about air quotes, which does not answer the question but is amusing.

Update 2: Wikipedia also has a stub article about scare quotes, which mentions air quotes but doesn't link to the air quotes article. Someone with more energy (and Wikipedia-modifying experience) than me may want to fix this.

Whenever I do air quotes for programmers, I use single pointer fingers, instead of doubled pointer/middle combo, so that the string doesn't interpolate.

As a Scheme/Lisp programmer, I suppose my air quotes should be done with one finger on one hand.

yes they do

My favorite quote from the trip to Normandy was a guy at a restaurant accusing the person across from him: "tu es toujours entre guillemets" with the hand gesture.
