So I went back to Tower yesterday afternoon. Turns out they did have shopping baskets. I came pretty close to filling one up. According to the receipt, I bought 94 CDs, for a total of $448.25 including tax. At the bottom it says "You saved 1104.16 today!" I'm actually pretty sure there are a few CDs missing from the receipt, too; there were a couple that the clerk couldn't scan because they didn't have UPC stickers, and his boss said to just scan something else of the same price multiple times, but I don't see any multiples listed on the receipt. OK, I just counted: I ended up with exactly 100. Nice!

I did end up getting some stuff I had only heard of before, and even a couple that I hadn't heard of but looked interesting (The Unicorns, a Gershon Kingsley double-CD "God is a Moog" for $.50). I also got three that I already own (one accidentally), and a handful of stuff that I had already downloaded but of course it's nice to have hardcopy. I'm glad I remembered that they have separate sections for "metal" (I had no idea Sepultura and Voivod had new albums, and Eagles of Death Metal had been misfiled into there) and "dance" (three Banco de Gaia CDs for $1 each, a double-CD by LCD Soundsystem, and some other good stuff).
