There's a new Bad Designs post, about perplexing icons on a Cadillac dashboard. But it doesn't say what the icons are actually for, and I'm at a loss as well. Any ideas?
I would bet that those are controls for an LCD screen immediately adjacent. The lower-case I is fairly standard for "information", so the top right is "car information, which means it's controlling a display. Which probably means we're looking at:
I didn't even realize that was an "i" (which means it's not even fully internationalized, by the way). I thought it was a rather short person standing next to the car.
I speculate that it controls the heads-up display found on some high-end Cadillacs, which projects a night-vision image onto the windshield in front of the driver as an overlay.
The big toggle is clearly "Make car go forward / Make car go in reverse".
The road going into the distance is "Cruise Control".
The "i" next to the car means "Pull car over to get directions". It's positioned to the right of a panel so that a wife/girlfriend can lean over and punch even if as her husband/boyfriend is stating he knows exactly where he is, and no he's sure that's not the same exit that you've passed three times before.
The set of boxes is "Take driver's test". I suspect it's only usable when you have the cruise control on, and gives you the convenience of taking the test without going into DMV.

The big check on its own is "Recline seat".
