But can you least move around them reasonably? In SD, enough of them walk so slow there's no "fast lane" to get by.

One other thing I noticed: In MA, if you were in the grocery store, putting items on the conveyor belt, the person in front of you would place down that divider thingie, and move out of your way. In SoCal, much of the time the person in front of you will stand in your way, and sometimes even lean on the edge strip that touches the belt. (Such that, if you were to put your items down, you'd be putting them in front of the person, not behind them.) So, many times, you need to wait until they go up to pay before you can load on your first item.
