Another lame OkCupid poll (link from
misuba):
Pure Nerd
69 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 34% Dork
|
|
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being
smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or
subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social
expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in all Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure
Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally
smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up
all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer.
Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more
so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be
replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations! |

At 78% Nerd, 56% Geek, 47% Dork, I'm a "Modern, Cool Nerd" (i.e., I scored above 50% on both Nerd and Geek.) Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't score over 50% on Dork.
You get to be "Purely Successful." (Given your previous employment and stock options, there's a nice pun in there somewhere.) My ostensible lot in life is to be someone's lifeline on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. (OTOH, right now, I actually have stock options which have both vested and are above water. It's a very odd feeling. I'm not used to it.)

I thought I was geekier than that as well, but I think my flavor of geekiness is not well-represented by this test.
