I was discussing art with [livejournal.com profile] dictator555 the other day. I'm very finicky about art—about 99% of it doesn't really do much of anything for me—but there are a few artists that I've liked. She hadn't heard of many of them, so I thought I'd post some examples:

Maxfield Parrish:

Edit: I just realized there's something wrong with the colors on this one. Follow the link above to see a better scan of this.

Chesley Bonestell:

John Squire (from the Stone Roses):

Roger Dean:

Dan Brockman (from the Medea Connection):

Dave Trampier:

Timothy Renner:

Edit: Fixed up the Parrish and Trampier images. Sorry about that.

um

that first image is NOT parrish.

I would map the breadth and taste of your music to mine of visual art.

A lot of music is unremarkable but ok to me, and a lot of art I rave about probably makes little to no impression on you.

Re: um

Feh, the image I linked to got replaced by some random other one. Should be fixed now, unless this site plays the same hijinks. (It should be "Daybreak", i.e. the cliched one.)

Re: um

Argh, the Trampier one is broken too. Will fix when I get home.

You found a Roger Dean with no cat-footprint clouds ..

Ummmmmm, I dunno. I just like their stuff. (And it's not an all-or-nothing thing with each artist; e.g. there's a bunch of Parrish stuff that's kind of boring or a little too twee). I haven't really figured out what the salient property is. I often see stuff that I think I should like but don't, for no good reason I can single out.

Dude, I was looking for some Roger Dean earlier this week.

My Yes Fragile t-shirt is probably one of my most favorite.
