Music sharing 23

Time for a nice proto-surf instrumental: The Fireballs, "Bulldog". Not exactly "Misirlou", but it's got the reverbed guitar, the cymbal ride, and that classic 2-1 beat.

This is the first track of the Cowabunga! 4-disc Rhino compilation, but I made this mp3 from the Sundazed reissue of the first (self-titled) Fireballs record. I think it's the second-earliest-recorded CD I own; the earliest is Shostakovich's "Leningrad" symphony performed by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in 1957. I picked it up because it was cheap and I was curious after hearing a bit of it on the radio, but I think it was cheap because recordings of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in 1957 just kinda suck. I should probably get a more modern recording, because the music is pretty cool.

I'm afraid fetches of that URL are hanging at sporadic intervals, and the server doesn't support partial fetches, which aggravates the problem.

Yeah, I really need to deal with partial fetches (or prod the PLT Scheme team into dealing with them). Sorry about that.

My net has seemed flaky the last two days, but I thought it might not be my home connection—I can keep a VNC connection from work to home just fine. (Maybe VNC is just more resilient to packet loss?). If it keeps up I'll probably call Comcast tonight. Thanks for the external data point...
