Time for something a bit more upbeat: The Embrooks, "Standing Upside Down". I couldn't decide which song from this album would be the best or most representative because they're all pretty great and they all sound pretty similar, so I went with the album opener. This band does an amazing job of recreating the 1966 "freakbeat" sound, best described by Richie Unterburger at allmusic: "mod on the verge of becoming psychedelic, but retaining a hard guitar pop base". Not too dissimilar from The Misunderstood, in fact, so if you liked that, check this one out too, and marvel that it was recorded in 2000.
