Disc Diggers, a big used CD store in Davis Square (Somerville, MA) is closing on December 30, although they will continue as an online store. At first I was sad, but then I remembered that I've only been in there maybe twice since I moved here a year and a half ago, and neither time found anything worth getting. Years ago it was much easier to find good stuff in their stacks, but nowadays it seems a bit too picked-over, and it's kind of a pain to stand around and flip through the bins instead of just searching on a website. Their staff never seemed particularly friendly or helpful, so I guess the only thing that I'd miss is being able to just walk in and buy (or sell) something rather than having to use the mail. I wonder what will go there instead—hopefully not another too-crowded-too-expensive restaurant/bar like Sauce that forced Your Move Games to move to a more cramped place down the street.

I was just in there once, back when they still claimed to carry LPs. They had a very small, picked-over selection, on the floor so it couldn't be browsed without back injury, and they were playing this "music" that was nothing but a repetitive drone. I won't particularly miss it.

But I like repetitive drone! It's always Bob Dylan or some old blues stuff or something when I go in there.
