I ran across a table of Harry Potter name translations which is pretty interesting. In particular, the name of the character Tom Marvolo Riddle posed an extra translation challenge, since it's an anagram of "I am Lord Voldemort". For example, in French, his name is Tom Elvis Jedusor, an anagram of "Je suis Voldemort". (Any fluent French readers want to explain the connotation of "Jedusor"?) Acronyms need double-translation too: for instance, S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) becomes S.H.I.T. (Stichting Huiself voor Inburgering en Tolerantie) in Dutch.
