A random meme, via [livejournal.com profile] cthulhia and [livejournal.com profile] aroraborealis. Mostly an excuse to try out the camera in my new phone.

[Take a picture of yourself right now. Don't fix your hair... just take a picture. Post that picture with no editing. Post these instructions with your picture.]

Yeah, I'm feeling kinda blurry.

Edit: Okay, that's weird, it reversed left and right, like a mirror. And here I was thinking it was cool to have an easy way to see what I looked like to other people. Why does it do that?!

On Tuesday night I went to see The Dandy Warhols at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, MA. On a whim, I wore my Hazel t-shirt, an obscure '90s Sub Pop grunge band from Portland, OR, because the Dandy Warhols are also from Portland. I was standing pretty close to stage left, where Zia the keyboard player was set up. And after the first song she totally pointed right at my shirt and mouthed "Hazel" and smiled!

Dandy Warhols
[Yeah, my phonecam sucks.]

One time Eddie Spaghetti from The Supersuckers gave an onstage shout-out to my Putters t-shirt. Coincidentally, the Supersuckers were in town last week, but I lamed out and didn't see them.

Hey, I'll be in New York, New York next Monday for the My Bloody Valentine show. (They aren't playing Boston, and I am suspecting that their set at All Tomorrow's Parties NY will not be enough to satisfy 16 years of waiting.) I'm planning to stay around for another night (at the glamorous Newark Airport Wyndham Garden Hotel) to do some sightseeing and general soaking in of New Yorkishness. So, if you're around on Tuesday 9/23, or the afternoon of Wednesday 9/24, and want to hang out, let me know. Also, feel free to point out some sights to see that are off the beaten path (or even some that are on it; I've never been to the Guggenheim, for example). I was vaguely thinking about visiting The Dream House:
In the concurrent sound environment, La Monte Young presents The Base 9:7:4 Symmetry in Prime Time When Centered above and below The Lowest Term Primes in The Range 288 to 224 with The Addition of 279 and 261 in Which The Half of The Symmetric Division Mapped above and Including 288 Consists of The Powers of 2 Multiplied by The Primes within The Ranges of 144 to 128, 72 to 64 and 36 to 32 Which Are Symmetrical to Those Primes in Lowest Terms in The Half of The Symmetric Division Mapped below and Including 224 within The Ranges 126 to 112, 63 to 56 and 31.5 to 28 with The Addition of 119, a periodic composite sound waveform environment created from sine wave components generated digitally in real time on a custom-designed Rayna interval synthesizer.
...but sadly it's only open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Maybe next time.

[Yes, this post's subject is a Genesis reference. I am that much of a geek.]
Yes, I've been watching old episodes of MTV2's "Subterranean" that have been piling up on my Tivo. Here's some toons & tunes fer younz.
