I found my phone! The cleaning staff told me to ask at the facilities office on the 5th floor, and sure enough it was there. I'm immensely relieved, but also slightly disappointed that I won't have a good reason to buy a Nexus One.

I have similar relief and disappointment every time something breaks only temporarily on my phone.

You have a good reason to buy a nexus one: you want it. You just don't have a good excuse :)

I want a phone, and if I had lost my G1, the phone I'd pick to replace it would probably be the Nexus One. But since I still have my G1, I'm not sure I want to replace it with a Nexus One; I would miss the keyboard, I think, plus I don't really have disposable income at the moment.

I think you mean:

Congratulations to Physical Plant for finding Doug's phone on Sunday! The hunt is over.

If *that* were the story, then Central Services would have won at the beginning of the hunt by virtue of Doug still having his phone. :P

You can buy a nexus one anyway

It truly is a much better phone than the G1. Lisa tried a myTouch, and didn't like it and went back to the G1. But the day she saw the Nexus One, she happily gave up her G1. She's since given it away.

What does she think about the lack of a physical keyboard? I use the G1 keyboard quite a lot.

She hated the on-screen keyboard until I taught her to turn the phone into landscape mode whenever she wanted to type something. The voice recognition works quite well also.
