Some more examples of the Tyranny of the Dominant Decomposition, at the Porter Square Shaw's:

• The ground turkey is not in the Turkey section, it's in the Ground Meat section.
• The Kashi brand cereal is not in the Cereal section, it's in the Wild Harvest section.
• The grated cheese is not in the Cheese section next to the Deli, it's in the Cheese section next to the Milk.

I feel like I need a card catalog.

I went to a grocery store once to get Pringles. Couldn't find them in with the snacks and had to ask.

They were "filed" under Canned Goods. Um, yeah.

I just remembered another one from today's shopping trip: the chipotle peppers were not with the jalapeno peppers, they were in the Ethnic Foods aisle.

The Porter Square Shaw's is tied with the Union Sq Market Basket for my least favorite supermarket of all time.

You have to classify the two cheese sections: Cheese section near the deli == Snob Cheese. Cheese Section next to Milk == Lowbrow Cheese and Cheese Food.

It's true, snobs just have their personal chef do the cheese grating.

I would expect muffin liners to be in the baking goods aisle. Or at least the "kitchen shop", which is usually pretty closeby.
