You know you've been playing too much Race for the Galaxy when you see a blinking yellow traffic light and all you can think is, "ooh, an alien production world!"
Well, I know I've been using Twitter too much because my first thought upon reading this was, "That's great -- must retweet that for my other gaming friends!"
I like the new homeworlds and the 5th player cards. I've not tried the solitaire gaqm e(looked... overly complex), but I was annoyed to pay so much for half 'do it yourself' cards and so little expansion.
There's also the goal tiles, which I do think add a fair amount to the game. A lot of people dismiss them as only adding more randomness, but I think they add some more tactical decisions.
Anyway, yes, I think it's worth it. It's only $18 online, and for the amount of times I play Race for the Galaxy, it's great to have new cards to keep it from getting stale.
The solitaire game is not nearly as complex as it looks. Don't try to read all the directions first; just set things up, doing what it says each sentence. Like the original game, once the icons on the player mat "click", everything makes sense, and you can play without reference to the rules, and it doesn't seem complicated at all.
