I just bought my ticket to the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival at a Catskills resort in Monticello, NY this September. It's "curated" by My Bloody Valentine, who miraculously appear to actually be playing shows this year (after being "on hiatus" since 1992), but I'll believe that when I see it! But even if they don't show up, it's a pretty incredible line-up for those of us who came of musical age in the early '90s:

(Don't ask me what's up with the guillemots, I just copy-pasted this from the website.)

MY BLOODY VALENTINE

I didn't spring for the full package including accomodation, because I figure I can probably get a better deal at some other nearby motel (and I was too late for the on-site rooms that sold out a couple weeks ago). Or, maybe I'll try to share a room. Is anyone else here going?

I'm also seriously considering getting a ticket to one of the MBV NYC shows that go on sale tomorrow, since they do not seem to have any plans to visit Boston on their supposed tour.

also: Harmonia! I would love to see Harmonia. I saw Cluster back in 96, and will see them again in a few weeks, but Harmonia won't be playing here.

And the Meat Puppets doing Meat Puppets II! I did a road trip up to Portland in 1987 listening to that album.

Wow

Awesome lineup! I may have to go to that one myself.

lodging...

If you're going to try for a nearby hotel, starting calling soon... I had to call six places before I found a room (fortunately it's still a close location). They're definitely filling up fast.

Re: lodging...

Huh, how many tickets are they selling? It looked like there were quite a few motels nearby. Is there something else that weekend too?

Re: lodging...

3,000 tickets, I heard. And I'd imagine the area isn't exactly prepared for such an influx of people.

Re: lodging...

As long as there's something available within driving distance I think I'll be okay. I drove to Providence and back each day both times Terrastock was there.

Yo La Tengo opened for MBV when I saw them too many years ago. There's my obligatory MBV comment. :-) I didn't know Mogwai performed live!

Yo La Tengo opened when I saw MBV in SF too, but I got there late so I missed them. I saw Buffalo Tom and about half of MBV's set before I had to leave early to catch the last CalTrain home. :( But I've seen Yo La Tengo a few times since then. And I've seen Mogwai a few times too!
