We've been having some great weather this week here in New England, and for a change it's looking like it will last through the weekend. Which means I'm starting to think about playing disc golf again! If you're in the area and interested in joining me this or some other weekend (or a weekday afternoon—yes, I'm still "on sabbatical"), let me know and I'll add you to my email invitation list.

We actually have a disk/frisbee golf course here in my town and I'm just kind of curious about how it works.

It's pretty much like regular golf: the object is to throw the disc into the basket. If you don't make it with the first throw (which you usually don't, since it's 200-400 feet away from the tee) then you throw it again from wherever it landed. Your score is the total number of throws; lowest score wins.

Throwing a disc is a lot easier to learn than swinging a golf club, though, plus discs are a lot cheaper. And it's a nice excuse to take a walk in the park.

Shall I add you to my list? Shoud I use your LJ email address, or some other one? (Mail me privately if you don't want to post it, at dougorleans@gmail.com.)

I would love to! And I could do a weekday afternoon.

I even have a couple of discs, though I'm not sure if I could find them. I played once in the Santa Cruz area (by one of the Convergence caches) and picked up a couple of used ones cheap because hey, there was this course and we wanted to play!
