Upcoming show alert: Major Stars, Spacious Mind, and Lothars at P.A.'s Lounge (Union Sq, Somerville) on Tuesday, September 6th. Spacious Mind is from Sweden, and I think this is only their second time in this country (first was for Terrastock 5). They were the highlight of Terrastock 3 for me, totally cosmic psych/prog epics, and their records are great too. Their performance at T5 was a lot different, just one long instrumental drone-out jam; it was still pretty good but a little unsatisfying. Still, I have high hopes for this show. It will also be good to see Major Stars, since I arrived at the Kinski show last Tuesday right as their set was ending. And of course it will be great to see what the Lothars are up to these days too. Anyway, if you're into psychedelic rock, guitar freakouts, theremin drone, or just loud noise, check this out, it should be an experience. Bring your earplugs!

By the way, the Kinski show was pretty good, although not as transcendent as the other times I've seen them. They seem to be moving away from space-rock and more into straight-up rock—dare I say boogie rock? They even did some punk or garage covers; I didn't recognize them, but the crowd seemed to be into them (especially Wayne & Kate from Major Stars). After hearing their new album Alpine Static I think I grok their new style better now but at the show I was hoping to hear more of their older style. It was still good to see live music, though, first time since Slint in March.

Now I'm off to see The Information. Later.

You mean you're NOT pulling an all-nighter for the code freeze? ;-) Maybe I'll come too. Does the mean Spacious Mind is playing second?

Yep, I finished my alpha obligations last week. Working on longer-term projects currently.

And yes, Spacious Mind is the middle band (10pm).
