Well, as I was watching Letterman on Tivo, I found out they interrupted it to show Kerry and Edwards arriving at UMass Boston for a special Boston Pops performance—conducted by none other than John Williams. Can I call 'em or what? (And the opening act was James Taylor, yawn. Probably Clinton's idea.)
Oh, and speaking of music, it was cool to see and hear John Kerry's '60s garage-rock band The Elektras in the bio film. Maybe Little Steven will resurrect Cavestomp so they can reunite. I'd heard that they were actually pretty good from some record-collector freaks, but maybe they're just trying to raise the eBay price of their LPs.
And one other thing I was going to mention: Alexandra Kerry's story of dad jumping into the river to save her pet hamster was cute and all, but it was an unfortunate parody of the celebrated river save in Vietnam. Maybe whoever vetted the story (get it? "vetted"?) thought it would be a way to emphasize his heroism, but when the real guy showed up on stage it made me a little igry.
