I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu, "Feisty Fawn", like the friendly Gnome update-manager told me to, but when I restarted the machine it would no longer boot. It hung for a while with "Waiting for root file system..." and then dropped me into a "BusyBox" command-line shell. So much for "Ubuntu 'Just Works'". I eventually figured out that I could use GRUB (by hitting ESC in the right 2-second window during the boot) to boot into an older version of the Linux kernel. After some more hijinx and lots of Google searching I found a suggestion to run update-initramfs and that did the trick. So, in case this happens to you, try that. Sigh.

On the bright side, the new "Windows Wobble when Moved" desktop effect is pretty cute. Unfortunately it no longer gives you other convenient features that I've come to depend on like hover-to-focus or hysteresis when a window bumps into another window, so I turned it back off. But maybe someday my windows will wobble again!
