I just watched Tuesday's premiere of "The Unit" on CBS. The advertisements had made it look mildly interesting, but made no mention of the fact that it was created by (and written by) David Mamet. (Why do they never advertise the things that will make me watch things for sure? I guess they figure the people who need to know will find out about it through other channels. But I'm not on any David Mamet fan lists so it wasn't on my radar.) Anyway, it's a pretty good show, about a top secret highly trained military anti-terrorist unit (and their wives). It's high on action (and fairly graphic—it takes pains to let you know these dudes aren't kidding around) and low on the stilted Mametese dialogue (think Spartan or Ronin, not Glengarry Glen Ross or House of Games). I still have it on Tivo and can make a tape if anyone local wants it.

Meanwhile, the cable seems to have cut out 15 minutes into tonight's "Invasion". Does anyone have a recording of it that I can borrow? Pretty please?
