I finally got around to finishing The 30th Annual Sphinxie Awards, a "multi-puzzle extravaganza" from the 2005 NPL convention, posted by
heaneyland back in July. I did most of it two weekends ago, but I had an error in one of the puzzles that prevented me from getting the final answer, which I didn't get around to finding and fixing until just now. I think it took me about 16 hours all together, which is pretty good considering it was meant for 5-person teams to take about 3-4 hours. Anyway, give it a shot if you have a spare couple days (or some friends and an afternoon). I found the puzzles to be just hard enough to be satisfying, but otherwise much easier (and more elegant) than most MIT Mystery Hunt puzzles. And at least one clue/answer made me laugh out loud when I figured it out:
