New season, new typeface

"The Late Show with David Letterman" started broadcasting in HDTV last week. I didn't think this would affect me, since I don't have HDTV. But they also started using different fonts for the Top Ten list, the end credits, and other titles and captions during the show. The Top Ten list font in particular is really ugly in an early '80s kind of way, e.g. the O is a big circle instead of a narrow oval. I'm actually finding this really upsetting. How pathetic is that?
