A lot of these are artists I hadn't heard of before 2022, and many others I had only learned about in the past few years. A fair amount is bands I got into in the '90s from being on music discussion listservs. I listen to a friend's weekly show on the MIT station WMBR (which I download in podcast form); he plays a lot of new music, and when I hear something I like I add their album to the queue. Other stuff I get from other people's lists, or I dunno, random recommendations that float by on social media. There's a lot here that I have no memory of how I encountered them. 🤷🏻♂️
Here's one you might be curious to listen to: Metric System 1981 is a solo project from German game designer Michael Schact. He did Coloretto, Zooloretto, Web of Power, Hansa, et al. The music is ambient synth stuff, pretty pleasant.
