Soon to be a Billerican

Yesterday I signed a one-year lease for a house in Billerica, starting May 1. The address is 4 Crest Road, about a block from Nutting Lake. It's a 3-story 3-bedroom 3-bath, quite large and nice, and one of the cheapest places I looked at. The commute to work is about 10 minutes, which is on the high side of what I was aiming for, but I think it will be okay. Stay tuned for a housewarming party announcement sometime next month.

Yeah, I'll be sending out the change-of-address mail soon.

Perhaps you need a pity party, rather than a housewarming party? ;-)

Yeah, well. It actually took me 15 minutes to get there yesterday at 5:30, which is only 5 minutes less than it takes to get to work in the morning currently (on Rt 2). So it doesn't feel like I'm drastically cutting the commute time like I was hoping. But it will do.

I used to live in Billerica, although you'll be closer to Burlington than I was. Congrats! Short commute to work is always a good thing.

Wait, so where do you live now? I was figuring that now that we lived closer I could finally give you back your Brazil DVDs.

Three bathrooms are overkill, yes. But I'm not going to turn it own because it's too many. One of them is inside the master bedroom, then there's one on each floor. Probably the one on the second floor will never get used.

The bedrooms will be bedroom, office, and game room, just like I have now. I was thinking about using the 2-car garage as a game room, since it's heated, but it doesn't have air conditioning so it might get too hot in the summer. Plus the landlord said he might not be able to get all of his stuff out before I move in (he was using it as a workroom) so I might only be able to use half of it for a while.

Oh, I bought half a house in Arlington. (The bottom half. They don't pay me enough to buy the top half, much less an entire house.) If all goes well, I will have paid it off in about 20 years. :-(

I kept meaning to have a house warming party, but I never got it together enough to plan one.

Congratulations..... Awesome.
I should have checked this post before rambling on about getting your own place.

3 baths?

My first thought was "what's wrong with it if it's cheap and has 3 baths?" That's rather strange. But congrats, and that commute sure sounds great.

I think the only thing wrong is that it's in Billerica, land of swamps and strip malls. Also, the landlord wants to sell in a year or two, so I can't stay here indefinitely (unless I buy it, and I have no idea what he is expecting to get for it so I don't know if I can afford it).

I ended up putting all the game shelves and bookcases in the dining room, because it would be too empty with just a table and chairs, and I put the CD shelves in the "game" room. Or maybe some of the games will end up there too.
